	VRT commissions Soundcraft VI4 for new broadcast truck.

	Around the world savvy technicians are beginning to discover that the compact desk meets their criteria: the Vi4 not only offers all the functionality and facilities of Soundcraft’s larger Vi6 in space-conscious applications such as OB trucks, but sound engineers are aware that the Soundcraft Vi6 and Vi4 share much of the heritage of sister company Studer’s Vista broadcast consoles, including the acclaimed Vistonics™ II touch-screen user interface and SCore Live processing engine. The Soundcraft Vi4 offers access to 48 inputs on 24 faders, with a total of 27 output busses available for use as masters, groups, auxes or matrices — a featureset that proved useful to Belgium’s VRT (Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroep), a public broadcast organisation based in Flanders. It is the commissioning of a new OB radio truck which will see them take delivery of the new Vi4 after the station’s operations manager, Wim Moortgat was treated to a demonstration by Soundcraft’s Belgian distributor, Audio XL. The Vi4 offers a great solution for OB trucks where space is an issue, and integration to other equipment is further simplified by the use of various formats including AES/EBU and MADI. Explained Mr. Moortgat, “We wanted an optical link between the truck and the stage, and MADI is an open standard. “This gives us the best of both worlds and from an ergonomic point of view also provides the best solution. We needed a 24-fader desk to handle live music mixing and the Vi4 meets the price point, and is easy to navigate and operate.” The new truck is an OB vehicle currently being outfitted for commissioning by VRT before the end of the year.
